Rowan Leslie
Rowan is a fiddle player and composer from County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Now based in the thriving music scene of Glasgow. While being continuously steeped in the world of Irish traditional music with his performing and composing, Rowan has also written for a variety of instrumental line ups and musical genres. He developed these skills and experiences while studying on the BMus folk and traditional music at Newcastle University, where he took time to focus on creative compositional techniques. This has led to writing for various folk and traditional groups, world music ensembles and classical orchestras, including the Royal Northern Sinfonia.
For commissions, Rowan can write any type of tune inside the instrumental folk and traditional idiom; jigs, reels, hornpipes, slow airs etc. The work will be provided as sheet music, along with a video/audio recording of the piece performed by a duo.
String ensemble and chamber orchestra pieces are also available. The work will be provided as sheet music, and as an electronically reproduced musical file. Depending on the line up of instruments requested, a professional live recording may also be available from the finest selection of players from The Atlantic Collective. Terms apply.
